That alone almost sent Setzinger in a bloody frenzy. The man was foolish enough to complain publicly and later on discussed the whole matter with his clan. I’d say I eavesdropped, but that’s not exactly how it happened. Was just standing there, watching over Summer. Can’t help it that one could hear ‘em as clear as canon fire from that little room of theirs.

Turns out that Gilges character is about to join them. Fine by me, only means that up until then he’d better be careful about letting people know. Don’t think there’s too many people who’d mind. But those who do still can give him hell of a lot of trouble. Almost a shame he ain’t Gangrel. After all he’s got his wits about him. Come to think of it, that probably puts him on top of his other new mates.

Can’t say I know what to make of Ida. On one hand she’s reluctant to accept that she ain’t the one winning a fight out of the two of us, on the other she knows that she’s not exactly the muscle of this team. Working with that prick should give her something useful to do. Something she actually likes. And I think she’s much better suited for politics than I am, so I ain’t exactly giving her a fight over the position of primogen. Besides, I should hope I’ve got other things to do than spend my nights fuzzing over some minute detail in who’d better smile which way.

Sadly we all got to hear what pisses Ida off most. Lucky us the regent said he’d figure things out with that Toreador woman. Not that he was smart enough to let me know how that turned out. Either way, I’d better keep an eye out for poor Ida.

Now, since Georg at least saw it within himself to offer his hand in peace, I figured I might as well accept it. Don’t need enemies around here. Neither does he. I should hope he gets back on his feet some time soon. He’ll be needed. However, politics might well break his neck and they’ve already got the noose laid pretty tight about his throat. Munching down on some Malkavian doesn’t exactly further his cause either.

Her ladyship wasn’t doing herself much of a favour by appointing herself some stranger as being the muscle in her domain. Sure, she’s within her right to do so. But there are always plenty of folks about, second guessing her every decision. Not all of them will tell her to her face. And even when they do, them holding still means nothing. So why I’m told to keep my eyes on the borders of town, I also have to keep my eye on her, whether she likes it or not. From where she stands I think she did the right thing. Not that she had much choice. Knowing better is easy though, especially when you’re not the one with the weight bearing down on your shoulders.

Which brings me to the last ilk. People who think all they’ve got to do to ride a horse is put a saddle on her back and there you go. But not knowing the horse is sure to break your back. She may be standing still out of the kindness of her heart, true. But on the other hand, she might have had days behind her worth of hard work for ten times her strength. So what happens when you put the saddle down on her back? She’ll take you down kicking faster than you can say holy cow.

And just because you think she ain’t hearing you, it don’t tell you nothing about her character or what she’s got in store.

[380

post-3855","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-riordan-kerrigan-rh
["GET
