Following the request of a brother in the blood I have arrived where my help is required. The name of the city escapes me, yet I am certain that this will change soon. In merely a few years this will be another home to me. A place of refuge and personal power.
Two have been chosen to accompany me.
One Dr. Olivia Blight, bound to House and Clan. A very clever mind of her time. She handed me a manuscript of one of her researches back when she was working to aquire the title of doctor. Regrettably I have not found the time yet to finish the lecture. The subject itself is rather fascinating though – witchcraft and sorcery in the works of William Shakespeare. The interest people take in someone who has been dead for centuries before their own birth never fails to amaze me. Dr. Blight, for her part, was delighted to find that I am a contemporary of him and seemed pleased that I offered to take her to a performance of Henry V, as soon as time and opportunity present themselves. I instated her as seneshall.
The other is Bertram Olsen, son of Clan Brujah. I fought at his side during the time of the American Civil War. My initial perception was that he is a good fighter – and just that. And yet he taught me better, showing a remarkable clarity of thought and idea as well as a solid perception on what is right and wrong. It should make him a formidable sheriff. Perhaps even a guide to some. Considering his blood and the curse he shares with his brothers he usually stays astonishingly calm. Even more so than I do. Still I am sure he has his own agenda. Just as Dr. Blight has. Everyone has one these days. I wonder what theirs is.
Earl O’Riley has provided all the information he had gathered until now. More than what was in the files. I will have to inform the other two about everything he left out there. Also I have already met part of his, now my, domain. I understand what caused the trouble. At least part of it. Maybe the fate he fears can still be averted. I refuse to believe that everything has been in vain. With enough effort and diligence there is still much to be saved. However, I also understand why it is not within the power of the earl.
There are humans here, if few. To uphold the masquerade, especially with those who ware not of our blood, will be more than merely challenging. Even more so to keep the mortals alive. But with the help of God, our saviour, we shall prevail.
