The Crossroads Demon II

Monday night. All Sunday had gone by without a decision. And all Monday went by without thinking about said decision. At least that was the plan.

Nate had considered Jason. Calling upon his brother would have brought him over, of that he was sure. But then, both men were reasonably tired. And accepting Jason’s attempts at distracting him would also have involved revelations. More than either of the two man could handle right now, most likely. So he had dropped the idea soon enough.

Instead he went straight to one of the local gay hide-outs. Men were safe. Men would not remind him of her. Men would, of course, remind him of him. One always had to choose one poison, after all. But the type of comfort he was looking for tonight wasn’t the type the old man could provide, even had he wanted to.

Picking up men had not been as easy as usual – but still easy enough. The eye patch usually drew some attention. Gifts of the blood or not, that could be used as an advantage.

No strings attached. Just a night of physical closeness to complete strangers. Mindless. And mindless was the point of it all.

It had been a very clever and good plan. One that had worked dozens of times in the past. One that utterly failed him this time around.
